Talent team has been formed to develop Klaipėda digital innovation ecosystem

The digital innovation platform Baltic Tech Park, which has been operating in Klaipėda for more than 3 years, starts 2021 by assembling a team of talents. The goal is to develop the Digital Innovation Center, which aims to change the DNA of the Klaipeda region’s economy, to contribute to sustainable business and urban growth, using the most modern technologies.

This week, Gediminas Buivydas, a digital innovation strategist, joined the Baltic Tech Park and has been responsible for digitization and robotics (RPA) in the Ignitis Group and has worked in the field of digital innovation and artificial intelligence applications. According to G. Buivydas, digitization is not only a technological change, 90% of the result is determined by people, and the rest – by technology, therefore it is important to help companies understand the value of digitization and innovation.

It is planned to employ an additional 25 highly qualified specialists at the Digital Innovation Center

The Digital Innovation Center, established in 2019, advises companies in the region on innovation, implementation of IT systems, attracting financing and seeks to contribute to sustainable business development (ESG – environmental, social and corporate governance principles). The center currently connects a network of more than 20 partners. The construction of a building of more than 2,000 square meters with artificial intelligence, process robotics (RPA), 3D technology, engineering design, building digitization, digital design, neuromarketing, production planning automation, electronics, metal and wood processing, IT laboratories will start this year. It is planned to employ an additional 25 highly qualified specialists and it is expected that the building will open its doors to the public in late the spring in 2022. Members of the Digital Innovation Center will be able to test digital technologies, create prototypes, evaluate their performance and only then invest.

“We are happy to contribute to the transformation of the Western Lithuania region into a high value-added economy based on the latest technologies. With the shortening of global value chains and decentralization, we believe that the speed of decision-making can make smaller cities and regions the birthplace of breakthrough innovations and new economic models. By implementing the Digital Innovation Center development project, we aim not only to help local companies improve their operations with the help of digital technologies, but also to contribute to the growth of the circular economy and high value-added jobs in the region,” said Ignas Aničas, Innovation Director of Baltic Tech Park.

In three years – from the idea of one person to the digital innovation platform of Western Lithuania, connecting knowledge, spaces and talents
