The construction of the new Innovation Center begins in Vilnius

A new stage of development begins in Visoriai Information Technology Park: a construction permit has been issued for the new Innovation, Research and Laboratory Center. It is being developed by BOD GROUP. Investments in the development of this laboratory complex will amount to about 14 million eur. Construction works are about to start. The innovative building will have autonomous heating and cooling systems. Solar power plant on the facade and roof of the building will produce all the electricity necessary to maintain the building.

In the new research and innovation center, BOD GROUP will establish a laboratory complex, including a new generation energy storage development center, where innovative batteries and accumulators adapted for household, transport and industrial needs will be developed.

“This center is an important and organic step in the development of our group of companies. We continue on the path of vertical integration in all segments of our business and build a coherent chain – from technology research, through production, products and services to the end user.

Undoubtedly, the group has high requirements for the quality of the building and the competencies of partners. It was important for us that designers and other chains work with the most advanced tools and technologies, because the building is really complex in engineering,” says Martynas Rusteika, BOD GROUP communication manager.

The construction project was prepared by the company Baltic Engineers, which will also supervise the project implementation process. Baltic Engineers designed and managed the construction of the Continental plant in Kaunas, the Dovista window production town, as well as the area and engineering networks of the Museum of Modern Art Mo.

“We like complex projects – in them we can best realize the experience and skills of our team and create great value for customers. BOD GROUP paid special attention to the design stage of the building, the precise preparation of the construction project, which can be achieved only by working with 3D platforms. This is a prerequisite for the maximum elimination of errors during the construction itself. After all, during the construction stage, design errors are very expensive and can even irreparably damage the quality of the building, especially when the project is so complex,” says Darius Kvedaras, CEO of Baltic Engineers.

The building will supply itself with energy

The BOD GROUP Research and Laboratory Center building will provide heat and cool on its own – an innovative system of geothermal wells and heat pumps will be able to cover the building’s needs.

“Most of the geothermal wells will be installed under the building, so the system will be extremely compact, requiring no plot area. Geothermal energy will ensure not only the heating of the building in the cold season, but also the basic cooling of the premises when the weather warms up. As many as 16 ventilation systems with heat recovery have been designed for the ventilation of the building – this is important to ensure the necessary indoor climate in laboratories and research centers,” says D. Kvedaras.

The next-generation solar power plant, which will be installed on the roof and integrated into the building’s facade, will generate much of the electricity needed for the building.

The construction of A ++ energy class, 5 floors, 33 thousand sq. meters innovation, research and laboratory center will start this month. The completion of the works is expected at the ned of 2022. This technology complex will create about 200 jobs for high-tech professionals.

The architectural design and idea of the building were created by the company Milimetras, the architect Tomas Rasiulis, the construction manager – UAB Keista.
