One more year to prepare: for technical assessments for the market of construction materials
The Ministry of Environment extended the deadline for the implementation of stricter construction technical regulation until the 1st of January 2022. “Building partitions. Walls, roofs, windows and external entrance doors ”(STR 2.04.01: 2018) requirements should have been applied since 1st of January 2021. New requirements concerns externally ventilated thermal insulation systems that have a European Technical Assessment (ETA) and are CE marked or have a National Technical Assessment (NTA) and are used in the design and construction of buildings. The deadline was postponed so that as many as possible participants of the construction materials market could prepare for such assessments.
According to the Vice Minister of the Environment Darius Kvedaravičius, the term has been extended, taking into account the fact that in the Lithuanian market there are not enough prepared ETAs or NTAs for the ventilated building systems. Although, according to the Ministry, several technical assessments for the implementation of the above-mentioned STR requirement are currently being prepared, changes in the market are not progressing as fast as expected. Therefore, the deadline has been extended to allow market participants to complete the work started and adapt to the stricter STR “Building partitions. Walls, roofs, windows and external entrance doors ”.
These requirements will take effect on the 1st of January 2022. After that, they will no longer be reviewed or postponed. So until then, participants in the market of construction products will have to adapt to them.
