Two products of HUUM won prestigious design award
Estonian heater manufacturer HUUM OÜ participated in the prestigious international design competition “Red Dot Award” and won product design awards for two products. The prize went to the electric heater CLIFF and the sauna control panel UKU.
The latest electric heater in the product range, CLIFF, is compact and has extremely short safety distances, making it the ideal solution for smaller saunas. Short safety distances have been achieved with a carefully thought-out design and layout of the internal air tunnel. The author of the CLIFF electric heater is Mihkel Güsson and the engineer is Anti Reiman.
Another award-winning product, the UKU sauna control panel, makes sauna heating easy and convenient. HUUM came out with a remote control already seven years ago, while other competitors are catching up with only now. With the UKU control panel, it is possible to control the sauna locally, via a Wi-Fi network or with a built-in GSM module. Through the last two, it is possible to control the sauna from a mobile application all over the world. The author of UKU design is Mihkel Güsson. Maarja Lind, HUUM’s design manager, is responsible for further developments in UKU design. The author of the UKU app design is Keijo Kraus.
Award-winning products can be found in exhibitions, on the web and in the yearbook
“The Red Dot Award: The 2021 product design winners were particularly impressive this year,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO of Red Dot. “The design of these products is excellent in terms of both aesthetics and functionality. In such strong competition, it is not easy to dominate or gain the attention of a competent international jury,” adds Zec.
HUUM is no stranger to The Red Dot Award. In 2015, HUUM’s first electric heater DROP, designed by Mihkel Masso, also received a design award. It is gratifying to note that by 2021, ten Estonian products have won the Red Dot award, three of which belong to HUUM.
HUUM’s award-winning products will are available at the Red Dot website’s online exhibition from June 21 this year. From June 22, all award-winning products will also be on display at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. Visitors to the museum can experience the quality of the design in a room with modern designs and historic industrial architecture.
