Lithuanian budget 2021
In 2021, the expenditure budget for a total is more than 18 billion. The largest part of the budget, which is more than 4.7 billion euros, goes for social security. The economy will receive about 3.5 billion. More than 2.8 billion euros goes for education and 1.2 billion euros for health.
In the budget of 2021, about 1,083 million euros goes for the management of the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, of which:
- about 573 mln. euros for sick pays, subsidies during downtime, benefits for both the self-employed and those still seeking work;
- about 230 million euros will be provided for subsidies, soft loans, partial interest compensation and other business support for companies affected by COVID-19;
Revenue and expenditure related to projects financed by the Economic Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) are not included in the updated budget. This decision was made due to the fact that the plan for the use of the funds of the Economic Recovery and Resilience Building Facility is being prepared and coordinated with the European Commission. It is not clear what part of these funds will reach Lithuania in 2021. Expenditures and revenues related to the implementation of the Economic Recovery and Resilience Building Plan will be estimated in the general government financial projections presented in the Lithuanian Stability Program for 2021.
