The IMF mission worked in Lithuania
In preparation for Lithuania’s consultations in 2021 under Article IV of the Agreement Establishing the International Monetary Fund (IMF), an IMF mission worked remotely in Lithuania on 25–29 January. Mission was led by Borja Gracia.
IMF experts got acquainted with Lithuania’s macroeconomic situation and economic development. Labor market forecasts and the situation in the financial sector was also on the focus. The mission was interested in fiscal policy and focused on the impact of COVID-19. Experts paid attention to the implementation of measures in response to the pandemic crisis.
Remote meetings were held with members of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, representatives of the Financial Market Supervision and the Economic and Financial Stability Services. Members of the IMF mission also spoke with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and other state institutions, as well as the private sector.
Lithuania has been a member of the IMF since 1992. The IMF currently owns 190 countries.
