Värska Vesi covered the production building with solar panels
Värska Vesi AS will completely switch production to green electricity, and the entire Värska production building will be covered with solar panels in one step. The company was also the first Estonian beverage manufacturer to introduce bottles containing recycled plastic in April 2020, the company announced.
“Our goal is to minimize the footprint of the entire company’s operations and thus contribute to keeping our environment clean. From now on, the Estonian cult product Värska Original and all other Värska Vee products will be bottled only with the help of green energy. In addition, we also use solar energy produced by our own solar panels in the factory, ”said Urmas Jõgeva, Chairman of the Management Board of Värska Vesi AS.
“Being the source of the healing waters of the earth’s crust, we feel a special need to keep the environment clean at every step. By using renewable environmentally friendly resources in production, companies can also increase the demand for them,” added Jõgeva.
Jõgeva emphasizes that the issue of recycling plastic bottles is also very important from the point of view of environmental protection, and therefore Värska Vesi AS was the first beverage producer in Estonia to introduce bottles containing recycled plastic or rPET material.
“We plan to increase the share of recycled plastic in our products. The world is sinking into plastic waste. The CO2 footprint from rPET packaging is 79% smaller than the use of primary raw materials. By preferring recycled plastic bottles, we create a demand for this material. Värska Vesi AS saves 14 tons of oil with already 20% recycled material. Thanks to the Estonian pledge packaging system, almost 90% of plastic beverage bottles are actually collected and sent for recycling in Estonia,” said Jõgeva.
