Call for projects covering industry for circular economy
Non-governmental organizations which are active in the field of environment and climate are invited to apply for LIFE support. National level organisations ought to propose actions to involve and mobilize the public in the implementation of the European Green Deal.
The European Green Deal is the EU growth strategy that aims to transform the EU into a fair and prosperous society, with a modern, sustainable and competitive economy that leaves no one behind. This is econonomy where there are no net emissions of greenhouse gases in 2050 and where economic growth is decoupled from resource use, announce European Commission.
Suggested projects may cover one or more Green Course topics. It is an increase in climate ambition; clean, affordable and secure energy; industry for a clean circular economy; energy and resource efficient buildings; sustainable and smart mobility; from the farm to the table; biodiversity and ecosystems; environment free of pollution and toxic substances; green funding.
NGOs can be inspired by successful ongoing LIFE projects in Lithuania. One of them is about algae. Apparently, they can be a part of economy based ecological service. The project AlgaeService for LIFE seeks to promote best practices in ecological service and the circular economics approach. Project implements an innovative complex system which has both demonstration and innovation character.
The results of the project will demonstrate the efficiency of the prototypes-harvesters for mitigation of excess algal biomass, as the source of phosphorus, nitrogen and hazardous cyanotoxins, in the ecosystems to ensure their applicability and transferability to a high variety of EU aquatic ecosystems. Also, this project focuses on developing technologies to provide a reliable, affordable, and sustainable supply of algal biomass as a feedstock source.
