High-level business delegation from United Arab Emirates visits Estonia
A business delegation from United Arab Emirates (UAE) visited Estonia for three days. The delegation, led by HE Abdulnasser Al Shaali, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, met with Estonian companies and state representatives to foster trade relations and find new cooperation opportunities.
A two-day business seminar organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Enterprise Estonia took place, during which the delegation was able to meet companies such as Nortal, CybExer Technologies, Cybernetica, Silen, Antegenes ja Datel. His Excellency Al Shaali noted that Estonia is an important and rapidly-emerging trading partner for the UAE in Europe.
Enterprise Estonia’s United Arab Emirates Export Advisor Ege Devon stated that UAE’s support and the high-level visit will help to open necessary doors.
The UAE and Dubai are in a very fast-growing region. Estonian companies see new opportunities on their markets in a variety of sectors – be they in IT, the defence industry or educational technology.” She added that this EXPO focuses particularly on the Middle East.

“This visit was a good opportunity for Estonian companies to network; they are planning a follow-up to continue their cooperation,” Devon said. Estonia and the UAE plan to sign a cooperation memorandum in order to strengthen their business relations even further. Both countries’ companies have begun to create a format for a business council.
The delegation also met with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications’ Secretary General Ando Leppiman, received an overview of the best practices of e-Estonia and visited the Food and Fermentation Technology Development Centre and Tallinn University of Technology. They were introduced to the concept of Estonia EXPO’s pavilion and our participation in EXPO’s main programme as a partner of digital solutions.
Enterprise Estonia in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Estonian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of the Environment organised the delegation’s visit.
