Be Live has designed and will build the Esco Lifesciences medical equipment factory in Kaunas
Esco Lifesciences is an international manufacturer of life sciences technology and equipment based in Singapore and currently operating in more than a hundred countries. UAB Esco medical technologies, which belongs to the Esco group, is the customer of the construction of the medical equipment factory, designed to be built in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone.
Be Live provides a full range of construction consulting services – from ideas, design, construction management to turnkey delivery. They just have finished the design of 7710 sq. meters 2-storey A ++ energy class Esco Lifesciences medical equipment factory with storage and office space. Its construction is scheduled to begin in the last quarter of this year and will take about a year. The products of the new medical equipment factory will be primarily laminars and incubators providing a sterile microclimate for IVF clinics.
“Together with Esco Lifesciences, we aim to make the building which would be in the top few hundreds most sustainable buildings in the world. We overcome this challenge by designing the building from the very beginning, from the design, the management of the construction process, and even the planning of its further life cycle.”
Darius Kvedaras, the director of the complex construction consulting company Be Live.
He says the new building is aiming for the highest BREEAM rating. Innovations such as life cycle analysis and dynamic energy modeling are used in the design and construction of the plant. In addition, ecologists are being consulted on a wide range of sustainability measures, not only the protection of birds from collisions with glass, but also the provision of nests and feeders. The entrances to the building will be equipped with piles of fertilizing wood and stones for small mammals or amphibians, as well as other measures that contribute to local biodiversity. At least 20% of the car park in the new factory is designed for electric cars, a place shall be provided for the disembarkation of centrally arrived workers. The traffic on the plot is designed so that the different flows cross as little as possible. The priority of the movement is given to pedestrians, prominent crossings are formed, the number of pedestrian, bicycle and car traffic intersections is minimized.
